A second teenager has been arrested in connection with the planned stabbing of a student at Fort Lee High School last month, authorities announced Friday.
The incident occurred on April 8, when a student was attacked in a school bathroom shortly before 11 a.m. A school resource officer reported the stabbing, prompting a swift lockdown and police response from Fort Lee and neighboring towns.
Prosecutors say the victim was stabbed multiple times—in the neck, abdomen, back, and arm—suffering serious injuries. He was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
The first suspect, a juvenile, was arrested shortly after the attack and charged with first-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.
Following further investigation, detectives identified a second 16-year-old student allegedly involved in planning and carrying out the attack. He was arrested Friday and faces the same charges: first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.
The teen is being held at the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center and is awaiting a closed hearing in Superior Court, Family Division.
