PROSECUTORS: FIRED NYPD COP LIED ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ARREST TO WEAR BADGE AGAIN
A former NYPD officer who later worked in West Wildwood and Neptune police departments lied about a prior arrest and job termination to obtain law enforcement jobs along the Jersey Shore, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Briant K. Nixon, 38, worked for the NYPD from 2012 to 2017 before being fired for violating rules tied to a 2015 domestic violence arrest and restraining order. Prosecutors say Nixon failed to disclose this history when seeking work in West Wildwood in 2022, sending a résumé to Matawan, and applying to Neptune police in 2023—where he swore under oath that his false statements were true.
Investigators say he again lied when renewing his police license this year, claiming he had never been charged with a crime or been subject to a restraining order.
Nixon faces charges including official misconduct, falsifying records, and false swearing. He is due in Monmouth County Superior Court on Sept. 25 and remains suspended from Neptune police.
