ATLANTIC COUNTY MAN CAUGHT FILMING MEN IN RESTROOMS AT PLANET FITNESS AND WAWA, POLICE SAY

Authorities in Atlantic County say Daniel Zhang, 23, of Egg Harbor City, pleaded guilty Tuesday to three counts of third-degree invasion of privacy stemming from a September 16, 2024 incident in Hamilton Township.

Prosecutors recommend five years’ probation, 200 hours of community service, and mental health and psycho-sexual evaluations, with Zhang required to follow all recommendations and submit to random device checks.

Police say Zhang was caught using his phone to secretly record a man in the men’s restroom at Planet Fitness. He later admitted to filming men at that location and a nearby Wawa because he was sexually attracted to the victims.

Investigators found 49 videos on his phone, recorded between May and September 2024 across Atlantic County and beyond.

Zhang is scheduled for sentencing on March 13, 2026, before Judge Joseph Levin.
